M.S. in Environmental Sciences

The master of science (M.S.) degree program is an interdisciplinary program intended for individuals with backgrounds in science or engineering who want advanced education in the identification, management, treatment, and effects of hazardous and toxic materials in the environment. It may be taken on a part-time or full-time basis.

PhD in Environmental Sciences

The Ph.D. program trains broadly educated Earth scientists for careers in academia, research, government, and industry. Students move swiftly from receiving knowledge to creating it. All the facilities and equipment necessary for modern studies in the Earth sciences are available for the use of students in the department whose research is conducted at one of the two affiliated institutions.

Application Requirements and Deadlines

M.S: Applicants should have undergraduate degrees in geology, chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related fields. In addition, they should have taken a minimum of one year of college chemistry, biology, and mathematics through calculus. Students who lack an appropriate background may be considered for admission, but they may be required to take additional courses.

Ph.D.: A master's degree in geology, chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related fields usually is required. In some cases, highly qualified students with bachelor's degrees in these fields may be accepted directly into the doctoral program.
