Community Engagement Fellowship

OVERVIEW

The Graduate School - Newark has established the Community Engagement Fellowship to encourage graduate school students to pursue high quality, unpaid/underpaid internships or fellowship placements that foster their career exploration and enhance their academic program, while reducing the financial challenges associated with unpaid internships.

Community Engagement Fellowships This highly competitive program provides grants from $500 a semester and $1,000 for the academic year to RU-N graduate students pursuing internships that are unpaid. The Graduate School - Newark has identified organizations that genuinely lack the financial resources to pay salaries or wages to their fellows or interns. Generally, internships at most organizations where financial resources are at a premium are eligible, particularly:

                Nonprofit          Governmental          Educational          Non-governmental

Unpaid internships at for-profit organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies and media conglomerates, will not be considered for funding through the fellowship, as these internships should be paid, regardless of the general practices of these organizations.
